We have all been hearing the phrase "Words Matter" mostly in response to an increasing lack of civility in politics and public discourse and the negative effects that can have.  I have often used text in my work and began to think more about this phrase.  How do words bring context and meaning to a piece of art either by being in the piece itself, or simply by the title?  What are some powerful phrases, blessings and words taken from Judaism and other sources that build up rather than tear down, or that resonate deeply for me?  The mixed media paintings in this show will be a mixture of new and older work with text as a conceptual element.
